›Phương Anh - Giấc Mơ
May 10 2006
If youdo not know who Phuong Anh is. I don't blame you. Not a lot of people do. She's one of the contestants from last year's popular Sao Mai Diem Hen (a.k.a Vietnamese Idol) show in Vietnam. I think she got to the semi final or something like that before she was voted off. Honestly of all the contestants from that show, I only like Ngoc Khue and Tung Duong since they brought the freshness to the Viet pop scene with their strange voices and willingness to explore. The remaining ones, including the guy came out top, Kasim Hoang Vu, imitate too much from other popular singers before them. That's the reason why I had never bought any of their debut albums. However, after I listened to Phuong Anh in Phu Quang 10 - Pho Cu Cua Toi, it changed my mind. She does have a strong and fresh voice with a little bit of Thanh Lam, a little bit of My Linh. Evenmaster Phu Quang saidin one of his interviews "I would choose her from the new generation of singers to deliver my songs" So when she released her debut album Giac Mo, I ordered it immediately. It's not the best, but it's good enough. I especially like the title track Giac Mo Cua Toi by Anh Quan. The lyrics are fairly simple buttheypainted an realistic pictureof homeless children and their dream of having a happy family, which is very true in Vietnam, where there are a lot of children who do not have a home. Don't laugh, but these words brought tears to my eyes. So here it is, hope ya'all enjoy it.
